Contemporaries called this artist «the poet of Russian autumn and Russian mists». Yefim Volkov mainly painted landscapes of the northern and middle stripes of Russia: he chose the modest corners of the nature of the Russian North with the plot of his paintings and tried to sweep and convey their poetry and charm.
