The composition of the work is impregnated with peace and the attributes of a measured way of life. The life of Jesus with his family was depicted as ordinary, there are no halos above the heads of the Mother of God and Christ, there are no other possible attributes of holiness and nothing supernatural or unearthly. Ignoring the church version, the master portrayed Jesus Christ in the circle of his brothers and sisters, making an attempt to undermine the legend of "immaculate conception".

In the very idea of the work the artist made a bold attempt to endow Christ with not an imaginary, but the truth of humanity, to show the bright humanistic principle with which he appeared to mere mortals, condemning himself for them to suffering and physical destruction
