Pyotr Pavlovich Ossovsky - People’s Artist of the USSR. The winner of the State Prize, a full member of the Russian Academy of Arts, an honorary citizen of the city of Pskov, was a bright artist, one of the largest representatives of Russian realism in painting, recorded in the history of Russian and world art as the ancestor "tough style".
On the canvas are depicted workers extracting limestone in a quarry that existed earlier on the territory of Old Izborsk (Pskov region). On the far side panorama of the Izbor fortress.
