Reinhold Kuebart studied at the Königsberg Academy of Fine Arts under the direction of Friedrich Rohe, continuing his studies at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Berlin. Under the direction of his brother, who was the architect of the Trakenensky state horse factory in East Prussia (now Clear Pole in the Kaliningrad region, Russia), the sculptor was commissioned around 1902 to create a figure of a famous stallion at three-quarters of human height, that should have been installed outside the recently expanded horse factory.
