In the 1840s and 1850s. The artist received orders for a series of portraits of officers of the Leib-Guards Cavalry and Kirasir regiments, painted portraits of Emperor Nicholas I (1842), Count M.N. Musin-Pushkin (1845-1847), Prince M.B. Lobanov-Rostovsky (1847-1848) and other representatives of the capital.
He created several lifelong portraits of M.Y. Lermontov. At the same time he wrote a whole series of portraits of officers of the Life Guard of the Husar Regiment - colleagues of the poet
