The painting depicts a scene from peasant life. The interior of the house. In the center of the composition on the bench near the window is a young girl in a blue sundress and red beads. She plays a rattle with a baby in a cradle suspended from a wooden pole. Next to the girl, on her right hand, on the bench on his knees stands a boy in a blue shirt, he looks out the window. Both the character of the painting with bare feet, the girl has knitting in her hands. On the far side, two pictures are attached to the wall, each depicting riders dressed in military uniform, riding a horse. In the corner of the room, behind the girl, there are icons and a lamp.
