Exhibition dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the formation of the Kaliningrad region Visiting the exhibition will be accompanied by media and tours in the new ART space building of the city.

In the exhibition "Art that we haven't lost" will be presented works of post-war period of domestic art from the collection of RDI, temporarily and conceptually related to the period of formation and establishment of the Kaliningrad region.

Social realism after the Great Patriotic War became an ideological tool for rebuilding the country, broadcasting the triumph of victory, the style focused on the theme of heroic work, reconstruction of destroyed cities, happy peaceful life, memory of the people’s deeds, as well as the exaltation of a non-unknown cult of personality.

During this period, the official art was characterized by a particular monumentalism, abundance and "glossy" beauty and was intended to educate the people in the spirit of socialism. Towards the 1960s, in the era of "thaw", social realism begins to change, excessive pomposity ceases, artists return to lyrical motifs, landscapes and portraits of ordinary people.
