Königliche Porzellan-Manufaktur Berlin (KPM)
Triton and Hippocampus (Model for the central decoration “Birth of beauty”)
1940 - 1942
Porcelain
Model for the central figure "Birth of beauty". In 1940, Foreign Minister Joachim von Ribbentrop assigned the KPM a central component for use at state lunches in foreign embassies. Shairich, who has been working at the porcelain factory again since the same year, chose the mythological theme "Birth of beauty" as a central motive. The core of the central part should be the birth of Venus. However, KPM produced only groups of figures around Triton and Reids. The artist’s change of style can be seen here. He turns from rococo forms to thin, excessively long forms of mannerism.
